Ken and Shonnie Johnson

Ken and ShonnieTo commemorate their 50th wedding anniversary, Ken and Shonnie Johnson wanted to do something special in honor of their family and in tribute to their lives together. In 2000 they set up a charitable gift annuity benefiting the TSC Alliance Endowment Fund. Their granddaughter, Annie, has tuberous sclerosis complex. They established this fund with an initial cash contribution to the organization; in return, the fund pays them a lifetime annual annuity equal to 6.8 percent of their gift's initial fair market value. The endowment fund received a generous gift, and they receive continuing benefits-including a charitable deduction on a portion of each annuity payment that helps offset their income tax. When Ken Johnson passed away in 2021, the Johnson family established the Ken Johnson Memorial Fund at the TSC Alliance Endowment Fund to support research benefitting adults with TSC.
